Classmates had a meeting with Joy Boruff of the Moline Foundation
to discuss our Scholarship Fund, hopefully to result in higher returns on our fund.

Thanks to everyone's hard work and generous donations, the MHS '59 Scholarship is now in place. Many, but not all, of the dedicated catering crew are in the photo above.

Here is the first Moline Dispatch article
detailing
our efforts toward the scholarship and the application process:

March 29th, 2009
New scholarship offered to Moline grads

Application deadline is April 15 for the Moline High School Class of 1959 Scholarship.

Offered through The Moline Foundation, the scholarship is open to 2009 Moline High School graduates with a GPA of 2.8 or better. Applicants must provide a transcript and proof of class rank and must be involved in at least one community service activity. Applicants also must submit an essay answering "What do you anticipate your life to be like in fifty years?" and "What prompts your interest in this scholarship?"

The scholarship funds were generated by alumni of the Moline High School Class of 1959 through hog roasts, Birdies for Charity and other initiatives. Starting the scholarship in 2009 will commemorate the MHS Class of 1959's 50th reunion and the golden anniversary of the Moline High School campus at 3600 Avenue of the Cities.

For an application, contact the counseling department at Moline High School or call (309) 764-4193.
